It’s no secret that The Crib really digs great guitarists, especially when they are as well-rounded and genuine as Dustin Furlow, an award-winning singer/songwriter/solo-guitarist.  When joined by harp guitar virtuoso Matt Thomas, it gets even better…

Dustin’s playing and songwriting style reflect an influence of many genres, but primarily the intimate, earthy sound of today’s contemporary-folk artists. With equal respects to songwriters such as Ray LaMontagne and virtuoso acoustic-guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel, Furlow eventually carved out a sound that became easily distinguishable by its complex guitar work and warm, home-spun lyrics.

In February 2017, he received the Veer Magazine Music Award for “Best Acoustic/Folk Artist” in the Southeastern Virginia area for 2016. That year he also received nominations for “Song of the Year” (The Garden), and “Album of the Year” (The Sound That You Call Home).

In 2016, Furlow released the full-length “The Sound That You Call Home”, which has enjoyed airplay on NPR radio’s “Acoustic Highway”, “Hunter at Sunrise”, and “Out of the Box” and received the title of “Album of the Year” by Barry Graham of NPR’s “Acoustic Highway”.

A year later Furlow went on to release the EP “Solo”, which was a live-in-studio project recorded by Rob Ulsh at Master Sound Studios (Justin Timberlake, Depeche Mode, Gwen Stefani) in Virginia Beach. (2017)

Dustin Furlow has shared the stage with many notable acts such as Vertical Horizon, Daniel Champagne, Matt Thomas, Bj Griffin and the Galaxy Groove, Seth Stainback and Logan Vath.

Playing just over 244 shows in 2017, he is almost always engaged in studio-work, writing, or performing and is currently producing his third album, “Shelter”.

With over a decade of touring and competitions across the world, Matt Thomas has crafted one of the biggest guitar sounds in the industry today.

With mind blowing techniques and deep songwriting, Thomas takes the audience on a wild ride of melodic and theatrical highlights that transports listeners to an imaginary world. With stories files with scientific knowledge and wonder, he not only brings listeners a world-class performance… but also educates and challenges our everyday patterns in life.

Thomas uses some of the most complex technology to bring the audience along the journey with him, including 4 individual pick-ups that are sent to a psychedelic array of pedals to achieve a larger-than-life sound.

Seeming like a mad-scientist, Thomas combines technological wizardry and a plethora of guitar techniques such as Percussion, Flamenco, Classical, Bluegrass, Jazz, Swing, Blues, and Acoustic Rock to sound like a complete full band.
